Art from the Heart
All Things Bright and Beautiful
Cecil Frances Alexander
All things bright and beautiful,
All creatures great and small,
All things wise and wonderful,
The Lord God made them all.
Each little flower that opens,
Each little bird that sings,
He made their glowing colors,
He made their tiny wings.
The rich man in his castle,
The poor man at his gate,
God made them high and lowly,
And ordered their estate.
The purple headed mountain,
The river running by,
The sunset and the morning,
That brightens up the sky;−
The cold wind in the winter,
The pleasant summer sun,
The ripe fruits in the garden,−
He made them every one.
The tall trees in the greenwood,
The meadows where we play,
The rushes by the water,
We gather every day;−
He gave us eyes to see them,
And lips that we might tell
How great is God Almighty,
Who hath made all things well.
Welcome to Heartworks: Art from the Heart!
My name is Annette, and I have been a life-long crafter, creator, and artist. While I'm sure I haven't actually done every craft possible, I've probably done something related or similar to most any you can imagine! My biggest challenge in my art experience has been to resist the urge to dabble in all things so that I can really focus on doing one thing (or just a few things) really well.
Most recently, I have put time into my charcoal drawings and needle felted creations. While the two media may seem quite different, I find that both require an eye for detail and endless patience. They also demand attention to proportions and textures, and an understanding of how color and shading are more important than lines and edges. Needle felting has allowed me to take my love of 2D work into the realm of 3D sculpture!
As a retired teacher, I am also inspired to share my love of crafting with others. I have some YouTube tutorials in the works, so keep checking in for more information. In addition, I would love to have the opportunity to share the fun of needle felting through in-person classes. We'll see what the future holds!
All of my work is inspired by my love and appreciation for the beautiful world around us. My efforts can't compare to the incredible creations of God, but perhaps they can reflect those creations enough to bless your days and your home!
